The candidates who had applied for the recruitment in May 2013 would have to submit new applications since the previous are considered cancelled. The department has also decided to advertise the recruitment in the newspapers.

CM seeks strategy to curb extortion

LAHORE, Sept 4: The chief minister has sought a comprehensive strategy for eliminating extortion in the province, following some recent reports in this connection.

“The extortionists should be dealt with an iron hand and an effective strategy should be evolved for addressing the complaints being reported from some towns,” Shahbaz Sharif told a meeting held here on Wednesday, a press release said.

The meeting was attended by Railway Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique, provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah Khan, Col (retired) Shuja Khanzada, chief secretary, home secretary, IG, CCPO and DIGs of operations and investigation wings of Lahore police.

The chief minister said although the menace of extortion was negligible in Punjab, the evil should be nipped in the bud.

Directing computerisation of all police stations at the earliest, he also sought an effective strategy for controlling street crimes and deputing additional force in areas with high crime rate, with senior officers patrolling there. He also sought policy to curb illegal weapons in the province in the next meeting.

Earlier, the chief secretary, the home secretary and the IG gave detailed briefings to the CM on law and order situation in the province. The meeting was told that 150 police stations had been computerised while the remaining were under the process.

The Lahore CCPO claimed that 12 members of five gangs involved in extortion had been arrested, while no money had been paid in any incident.

IGP khan Baig Ordered Requirments of 30 Instructors for Elite

After getting approval from the Punjab Government, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Khan Baig has ordered the recruitment of 30 Instructors for Elite Police Training School Baidyan, Lahore.

According to details, only the retired officials of Special Services Group (SSG) of Pakistan Army will be eligible for these posts. At least one Sub-Inspector, 17 Assistant Sub-Inspectors and 12 Head Constables will be inducted. Application form for the posts will be available from 20/21 September 2013. Whereas, the final list of the successful candidates will be displayed on 27th September 2013.

The retirement tenure of applicants from Pakistan Army should not be more than 5 years. These posts will be filled on one year contract basis which could be extended accordingly. The designation of these retired Instructors of Naib Sobedar will be equal to Sub-Inspector, Hawaldar equal to Assistant Sub-Inspector and Lance Naik will be equal to Head Constable. All the appointment will be made on merit and according to Punjab Police Rules. These posts will also be advertised properly in National Press.
